Pension
The Operating Engineers Local 955 Pension Trust Fund was established on November 1, 1973 to provide retirement income for participating Union members.
The Pension Plan is registered in the Province of Alberta under the Employment Pension Plans Act (EPPA) as a Specified Multi-Employer Pension Plan (SMEPP). The Pension Plan is also registered under the Income Tax Act with the Canada Revenue Agency.
The Pension Plan as of December 31, 2007, provides pension benefits for 1,720 retirees and has 9,564 participants registered under the plan.
The market value of the Pension Plan portfolio as of January 2009 is valued at $523.4 Million and is invested in a diversified portfolio consisting of:
- Bonds
- Canadian Stocks
- U.S. Stocks
- International Stocks
- Real Estate
