The basic concept of union representation is to create an equal bargaining relationship between the employees and employer to promote a harmonious, safe working environment, fair wages and benefits.

By pooling resources, union members can collectively achieve goals that are out of reach for individuals.

When management disciplines employees without strict guidelines and representation,  fairness and consistency is often not the case.

In a unionized environment, a collective agreement with a grievance procedure policy is in place that would address discipline and other issues.

The union works with the employees and the employer to resolve issues quickly and fairly and has a legal obligation to its members to act in good faith.  Other than your regular dues, there is no cost to you for this representation. IUOE Local 955 will do this vigorously.
